Greetings card retailer Running Cards UK announces festive fundraising partnership with A Mile in Her Shoes
Running Cards UK will donate a percentage of its online Christmas card sales this year to the charity this winter, which exists to help homeless women find their feet through fitness.
For every card sold from its Christmas range, Running Cards UK will donate 40p to A Mile in Her Shoes in the new fitness promotion announced today, with customers given the option to make a larger donation at the checkout, if they wish.
The charity will put the donations towards delivering new and improved fitness activities for women at refuges and homelessness support centres across London and beyond in 2019.
Running Cards UK was established by Rachel Job, a passionate runner, who was frequently frustrated that you couldn't buy greetings cards to celebrate running achievements or wish her fellow runners good luck before a race. So she made her own! Just over one year later the range has been expanded to include cycling cards as well as running-themed prints and mugs.
Nicola Miller set up A Mile in Her Shoes from scratch in 2013, initially as a community project bringing together two things that she believes in passionately: the health and other benefits of running; and improving social inclusion opportunities for women affected by homelessness and related disadvantages.
The charity wants to see a world where women experiencing multiple disadvantages are helped to find their feet. Through running-related fun and fitness, it aims to create an inclusive community where women can feel good about themselves; bringing them together to enjoy the physical, mental and social benefits of exercise.
A Mile in Her Shoes was shortlisted for the Guardian Public Service Awards and voted ‘Favourite Small Charity’ at The Running Awards in 2017
Commenting on the new partnership, Rachel Job, founder of Running Cards UK, said: “This is the perfect tie-up for Christmas and we look forward to donating to a cause so close to our own hearts and to those of our customers. I am pleased to be able to use the popularity of our brand amongst runners, their friends and families to raise awareness of this brilliant charity at Christmas.“
"This winter, we’re thrilled to be partnering with a brand that uses fun and humour to encourage people of all abilities to reach their fitness goals,” added Nicola Miller, Chair of Trustees and Founder of A Mile in Her Shoes."

How AMIHS works: -
The majority of homeless women have experienced complex trauma, and so our sessions are run by qualified female run group leaders to address concerns over emotional and physical safety.
-
We provide new and lightly used high quality full running kit (socks and sports bras always new) and healthy snacks and bottled water to replace calories burned in our sessions.
-
The main active part of the session is full of “run and games” where the emphasis is on working together as a team to play games to encourage women to get moving without a high perception of effort.
-
Group leaders structure games and activities so that they are welcoming and inclusive for everyone attending, including women completely new to doing any physical activity.
